Transformation.
A tired Canberra backyard rebuilt from the ground up — decking, steel pergola, roofing, concrete, paths, planters and landscaping, delivered as one project by one team.

The client wanted one usable outdoor space instead of a patchy lawn and a cracked slab — somewhere to sit under cover, eat outside and walk through a garden that looked finished.
We handled the whole job: clearing and excavation, footings and concrete, structural steel for the pergola, roofing, hardwood decking, then the landscape construction that ties it together — gravel paths, garden edging and raised planters.
Running every stage ourselves kept the levels, drainage falls and junctions consistent from the first set-out to the last board. One point of contact for the client, and no gaps between trades.

Before
Where we started.
Dry, uneven lawn, an old concrete slab too small to use and tired boundary fencing. No shade, no level surface, nowhere the family actually spent time.

Site preparation
Clearing and cutting to level.
Vegetation and the old slab were removed, spoil was carted off, and the pad was cut and compacted to level. Set-out pegs and string lines went in first so every following stage worked to the same reference.

Structural works
The part nobody sees.
Footings dug and poured to engineered depths, concrete works placed and finished with falls away from the house, then galvanised structural steel erected for the pergola — plumb, square and braced before anything was fixed to it.

Deck and pergola construction
Decking, framing and roofing.
Treated framing set to consistent falls, hardwood decking laid with even gaps and tidy fixing layouts, then roofing sheeted and flashed to the pergola so water leaves where it should and the area underneath stays dry.
Landscape construction

Finished, and used every day.
Steel garden edging set to clean lines, gravel paths compacted and bedded, raised planters built from hardwood and planted out, and new lawn laid to finish. The deck, the covered area and the garden read as one space rather than a series of add-ons.
